This is mine assignment for written comm. We are aupposed to choose a topic to write a para on.. And, guess what i chose? yes. my favourite food in the world--- chocolate. How can anyone aurvive without chocolate in their lives, i have no idea. They are just the most fabulous food that will never fail to tickle yourtaste buds and make you yearn for more. However, that only applies to certain chocolates... Not those with less than 50% of cocoa and just throw in some waffles or nuts to call it a " chocolate bar". That's plain bollocks. A good piece of chocolate has its unique characteristics. You will say:" its just a piece of chocolate, what's the fuss?" But, it is only when u tasted a piece of good chocolate then will you know what i mean. A piece of good chocolate does not necessarily mean it has to cost a bomb. Its the ingredients inside that counts. Cetainly, gourmet chocolate has its attributes but chocolate brands like kinder bueno are just as fine to satisfy a coquettish craving.
Saying so much, why don't we see how we are suppossed to taste a piece of dark chocolate.
To be able to truly enjoy a piece of dark chocolate involves a number of steps. First, you must clear your palate. This means that you have to clear your mouth of any lingering flavours. In doing this, you will then be able to taste the intricate details of the chocolate. Second, the appearance of the chocolate attributes to the flavour. The chocolate must be large enough in order to discover every little detail as it slowly melts. The surface of the chocolate should not be covered in blooms and it should exude a bright sheen. Third, smell the chocolate. Breathing in the aroma prepares the tongue for the chocolate itself and helps in taking in the subtleties of the fragrance. Fourth, let the chocolate cool down to room temperature before consumption. Cold temperatures will hold back your senses and will not allow for you to detect the intricacy of the chocolate. Fifth, place it on the tongue and let it melt. This allows the cocoa butter to spread evenly in the mouth, taking away any bitterness in the chocolate itself. As it melts, focus on the flavours that it conjured. This process will release more compounds that will tickle your senses. At this moment, close your eyes and enjoy the flavours exploding inside your mouth. Finally, the chocolate reaches the end of its spellbinding odyssey. You will then ask the following questions: “Is the chocolate heavy?”, “ Is the chocolate bitter or light?” and“ Does it leave a strong lasting taste in your mouth?”
How's that? After writing this para did i realise chocolate appreciation is actually a form of art on its own. Hope you guys enjoy them as much as i did.
Ok, and since this is going to be a food post, more food....
I am having a terrible cold.. since yesterday.. Stuffed nose, puffy and trearing eyes, incoherent words.. The ultimate downer! And, despite all these, i bought myse;f bubble tea on my way home.. Just wanted smth to quench my thirst for the walk home, under the ever- scorching sun beating down my back. And, yes. Miracurously, my nose cleared and it became better.. Though it only holds for a short whille before riveting back to a blocked nose.. But those few moments of pleasure is better than nothing.. So, wonder where this wonder drink is? location: Hougang mall level 5, Happy Cup. ( though the cups they use are not exactly happy.. haas!)
Next, u know where's thes best cream puffs? Ans: beard papa.. they have those cold ozzing cream that makes u swoon and ask for more.. the coronet with its crisp skin is mouth- watering.. the chocolate has chocolate that fills ur taste buds immediately but eating these items of 'lust' can be a messy affair at times.. So, savouring at home will be a much better indulgence.
Last on my list of recommendations will be Ben n Jerry's ice cream.. exotic flavours like Dublin Mudslide, chunky monkey and fudge... woah.. These are really "to-kill-for". Though the prices are kinda exorbitant and thus make it a splurge that we could not have often.. Under the chef's thumbs: A 5 star! Because, the friendly service crew with their mega-watt smile adds to the ambience.
So, thats all for now. Start drooling over these tasty treats! i entitled one long post for these cravings! yum..
